InstantCost helps people plan home projects before asking a tradesperson for a quote. We cover popular home services, including cleaning, renovations, plumbing, boilers, heat pumps, solar panels, EV chargers and driveways.

Choose a service, add the details of the job and select your region or enter a postcode. The calculator then gives a typical UK price range. Extra work mentioned in your notes can also be included where we have enough pricing information.

Alongside the calculators, you can compare a quote you have already received, read practical price guides, check current home-energy grants and ask local professionals for firm quotes.

How we work out prices

We use published trade rates, supplier pricing, public quotes and requests submitted through InstantCost. Regional adjustments reflect the difference between labour and operating costs around the UK. The result is a guide, not a fixed quotation.

What to expect

• Calculators are free to use and do not require an account.
• Prices are shown as ranges because every property and job is different.
• Grant checkers give an initial indication; the scheme provider or installer makes the final decision.
• If you request quotes, your details are used for that request and are not sold.
