Frequently asked questions
ECO4 funds a whole-house retrofit package: replacement boilers or heat pumps, loft, cavity and solid wall insulation, heating controls and, in some cases, solar panels — with the aim of lifting the property's EPC rating.
Universal Credit, Pension Credit (Guarantee or Savings Credit), Income Support, income-based JSA or ESA, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Child Benefit (within income thresholds) all qualify. Some households qualify through LA Flex without benefits.
Private tenants can be helped where the landlord consents and applies alongside them. Social housing is eligible only for properties rated EPC E, F or G.
For most eligible households yes — funding comes from the large energy suppliers, not from you. Occasionally a small contribution is requested where the measure cost exceeds the available funding.
Typically 4 to 10 weeks from application to installation, including a retrofit assessment of your home.
